Free Book Etiquette?

I am curious how everyone deals with free books?  I don't mean from giveaways or review purposes, but more like books from Pixel of Ink or NetGalley.  Do you grab as many as you can?  Pick and choose?  Let me know!  There's no prize or anything haha.

Personally, if its Pixel Of Ink, if its anywhere near a genre I may enjoy I grab it.  I have found many new authors that I adore this way.  But I am new to NetGalley, and I'm not really sure how to approach it.  There are so many books on there I'd love to read (and review!), but I am not sure what etiquette dictates in this sort of a situation?

And I suppose while I am on the subject, lets talk giveaways. Do you enter as many as possible, or pick and choose?

  1. When I first found Netgalley I went request crazy, and probably requested about 10 books at once (some I'm still working on), but now I tend to do a little more research on the books, and only request two or three at a time. This way I can work through them and move on to something else.

As for giveaways, if I don't want the book, I won't enter. I feel like it takes away from the people who really do want the book, and that's just mean. If I really really wanted something, say an ARC of Crossed (love this series!!!) and a bunch of people entered just because it was an ARC, I feel like that takes away from people who are really passionate about the series itself. Just my thoughts :) Great question!

  2. Thanks for answering :) I am very new to NetGalley, and I got approved for a couple books, so I'm very excited. And I'm trying to not feel like a kid in a candy store lol.

As for the giveaways, I agree with you. I think a lot of people just enter for the sake of winning. I get excited when I see posts naming the winners, I hope they get excited too lol.

I'm heading over to your blog now. Thanks for stopping by!
