Released by Shay Savage (Excerpt & Giveaway)

Released, Caged #3
Shay Savage

Oblivion is a sweet, sweet place.

No pain. No disturbing thoughts of the past. No guilt from my recent actions.

Deep down, there is still a part of me that knows how screwed up I am. I don’t see a way out, not now. Tria’s gone, and the possibility of her forgiving me in my current state is exactly zero. I know I have to pull myself together, accept my responsibilities, and try to make amends, but I have no idea where to start.

No job. No apartment. I’m living on the streets with the other junkies. As little as I had to offer Tria before, I have nothing to give her now. The only way out is to come clean and tell Tria the truth about my past, but the idea of reliving the memoires is so painful, I can’t think about it long enough to figure out a solution.

I’ve hit rock bottom, and I don’t even know which way is up any more.

Doesn't this series look awesome?!  I can't wait to read it, myself!  I hope you all enjoy the post, let me know what you think.  Have you already read some of this series?  What about the author, Shay Savage?

Jake Undone by Penelope Ward (Review)

Title: Jake Undone
Series: Jake #1
Author: Penelope Ward
Released: October 2013
Format: Amazon Borrow
Pages: 337 per Goodreads

Nina Kennedy was alive…but not living…until she met him.

Planes, trains, heights…you name it, Nina was afraid of it and led a sheltered life ruled by irrational fears and phobias. When she moves to Brooklyn for nursing school, that life is turned upside down, as she develops an intense but unwanted attraction to her gorgeous roommate, who’s pierced, tattooed and just happens to be the smartest person she’s ever met.

Behind Jake Green’s rough exterior and devilish smile, lies a heart of gold. He makes it his mission to change Nina’s outlook on life. When he agrees to tutor her, they forge a bet and the stakes are high as Jake forces Nina to face her demons. He just wasn’t expecting to fall hard for her in the process.

What Nina doesn’t realize, is that Jake has been living his own private hell. Once he drops a bombshell, will their love survive it?

Wow, I really have mixed feelings about this book.  Jake Undone started out perfect, just the way I want a New Adult read to go.  But by the end, I felt a bit differently.

Acts of Creation by Elisabeth Staab (Review)

Title: Acts of Creation
Series: Evergreen Grove #2
Author: Elisabeth Staab
Released: August 18, 2015
Format: Ebook received for review
Pages: 300 pages per Goodreads

He’s living a lie.

Dante Ramos: Champion. Ladies’ man. Party animal. Women want him, and men either want to be him or put his lights out for sleeping with their girlfriends. It’s all an act. Inside, he’s so full of self-loathing he’s on a fast-track to self-destruction.

She’s living in the shadows.

Meeting Michelle at a support group for assault survivors shows Dante a new world of possibilities. Finally, someone in his life might understand him, and she creates in him a fierce need to protect. Trouble is, Dante lives his life in the spotlight, and the only thing Michelle wants is a place to hide.

Acts of Creation was a beautiful and awesome book that created big dreamy sighs in this reader.  Elisabeth Staab definitely delivers the story of the athlete and the artist to perfection. I know I said I wanted to move to Evergreen Grove before in Cassie and Jake's story, but let me cement my answer now by saying I'm already packing my bags!

Tyrant by TM Frazier (Review & Giveaway)

Title: Tyrant
Series: King, Book 2
Author: TM Frazier
Released: August 16, 2015
Pages: 230 per Goodreads
Format: Ebook received for review

I. Remember. Everything.

Only now I wish I didn't.

When the fog is sucked away from my mind like smoke through a vacuum, the truth that has been beyond my reach for months finally reveals itself.

But the relief I thought I would feel never comes, and I'm more afraid now than I was the morning I woke up handcuffed in King's bed.

Because with the truth comes dark secrets I was never meant to know.

I will put the lives of those I love most at risk if I let on that my memory has returned, or if I seek help from the heavily tattooed felon who owns me body and soul.

I don't know if I'm strong enough to resist the magnetic pull toward King that grows stronger every day.

He's already saved me in more ways than one. Now it's my turn to do whatever it takes to save him.

Even if that means marrying someone else...

You know, I fell in love with the book King, and I was sure that Tyrant couldn't be any better.  I mean, one of my favorite characters was gone, love was torn apart... it was a mess.  Well hello, Tyrant, you fucking rule!

Title: With Visions of Red
Series: Broken Bonds Book Two
Author: Trisha Wolfe
Released: July 16, 2015
Format: Ebook received for review
Pages: 141 per Amazon

The UNSUB has made contact.

After a rapid string of grisly murders shakes the usually peaceful city of Arlington, Virginia, the sadistic killings of young women lull into a deceptive calm. Agent Sadie Bonds knows the terror isn’t over; serial killers don’t stop until caught.

And this sadist has targeted the profiler, revealing pieces of her dark past and weaving her secrets into each gruesome crime scene. Is the killer someone from Sadie’s past, her present? Or is he part of a fated future she brought on herself? The answer lies within the riddle of the copycat killings, ones mimicked after the infamous Blood Countess.

As tension brews in the department awaiting the UNSUB’s next move, Sadie’s more than on edge—her deviant cravings for the possible perpetrator have ratcheted out of control. She needs the feel of Colton’s ropes binding her, sheltering her from stark reality.

Only Colton Reed has his own twisted secrets that threaten to unravel not only Sadie as they come to light, but the UNSUB’s carefully constructed web now entangling both the profiler and her sexy bondage rigger.

Is Sadie too close to this case to be objective, or is the UNSUB closer to her than she ever imagined…

Well Sadie and Colton are back in book two of the Broken Bonds series.  The mystery is definitely amping up while the heat between Colton and Sadie is heating up!

I should have a review for this book next week - but I am so freaking anxious to read it, I can't even tell you!!  King and Pup are an amazing pair of characters, and the story is a bit dark to boot.  If you haven't read King yet, you'd better get on board real quick.  You won't be disappointed!  My review link to that will be at the bottom of this post.  For now, enjoy this teaser!!

Nicole Simmons returns to Seattle with scarred wrists and a scarred heart, her disastrous relationship with Jack LaTour over. The door seems closed on both her love for him and her exploration of his kinky world.

But Nic can't forget those feelings, those sensations, her incredible peek into that world of such pleasures. Her mind in a whirl, she turns to the only resource she can think of: the director of the Lush Life club, the expert of kink.

Dr. Peter Hall offers Nic lessons in all the seductive arts to which she is drawn, to act as her mentor as she learns.

But Nic isn’t his only student.

It seems Nic's journey with Jack isn't over yet. How far is she willing to go this time?

Last week I reviewed the story of Nic and Jack, the deliciously sexy new couple in Linked Circles.  Their story continues now in Broken Circles.  And what a doozy!

I really love horror books, and it's been a bit of a road to find my way back to them from the world of romance.  Something I love even more is female horror authors - when written right.  And that would definitely be Catherine Cavendish.

Linked Circles by Elise Covert (Review)

Title: Linked Circles
Series: Linked Circles #1
Author: Elise Covert
Released: October 1, 2014 - Seascribe Publishing
Format: Ebook received for review
Pages: 275 per Goodreads

Nicole Simmons had a great life, a life most women would envy: a fantastic job at a non-profit foundation, a sexy considerate lover with no strings attached, fun friends and a bright future.

And then Nic met Jack LaTour.

With charm and an animal magnetism she can't resist, Jack draws Nic into his highly erotic world. He seduces her, commands her, and presents her with his bracelet, his claim on her.

Nic slowly gives Jack her trust and Jack gradually deepens his emotional commitment to her. But as the eroticism around them blooms, Nic begins to realize just how decadent a life Jack has led. Is this a world she wants to enter? And can Jack keep her safe if she does?

I love Elise Covert.  I've read her Renegade series, and was completely in love.  But lately, I'd been feeling kind of over the billionaire and submissive storyline.  Let me tell you what, Covert's writing felt fresh and new, and I didn't feel like I was reading the same old story.  She drew me in, and I loved Nicole and Jack's story.
